Thru Life proudly received “Highly Commended” recognition in the Community Safety category at the Haringey Community Showcase, held on December 5 2024 at Tottenham Town Hall. This event celebrated the remarkable achievements of individuals, groups, and organizations that drive positive change across Haringey.
The Haringey Community Showcase, organized by the Haringey Community Collaborative in partnership with Public Voice, Mind in Haringey, Haringey Council, and NHS, brought together over 250 participants from the community, illustrating the vitality and spirit of Haringey’s voluntary and community sector. This year’s event featured over 50 stalls from community organizations and live performances that showcased local talent while addressing essential issues affecting the borough.
In the Community Safety category, the award was presented to Ark Resettlement Services as the winner, with Thru Life receiving the esteemed “Highly Commended” accolade for their impactful work in promoting safety and well-being within the community.
Lynette Charles, CEO of Mind in Haringey, said: “The first Haringey Community Showcase exhibited the borough’s vibrant and diverse voluntary and community sector. I would like to give a huge thank you to Cllr Ajda Ovat for opening the event, and to the Mayor of Haringey, Cllr Sue Jameson, who helped us honour those individuals and organizations that won awards for their work serving our community, nominated by their peers and community members. Thank you also to all the 50+ organisations who joined us on the day to celebrate and recognise our achievements working together.”
Dan Rogers, CEO of Public Voice, said: “The impressive quality and variety of projects applying for our Cost of Living Challenge Fund underlines the vibrancy of Haringey’s voluntary sector. We are excited to provide much-needed funding and capacity-building support to the awarded projects, as well as showcasing their impact to future funders and partners. More Challenge Fund opportunities will be available in the coming months, as the Haringey Community Collaborative continues to support the borough’s voluntary sector.”
Reflecting on this recognition, Richard Allicock, co-founder of Thru Life, expressed his gratitude: “Receiving the ‘Highly Commended’ award is a great honour for us. It underscores the hard work and dedication of our team and our supporters in making a positive impact in Haringey. We are grateful for the recognition and motivated to continue our efforts in enhancing community safety.”
The Haringey Community Showcase 2024 highlighted the innovative empowerment initiatives blossoming within the borough, and Thru Life is proud to be part of this vibrant community.
